You don’t have to trek to Napa Valley for good wine—it turns out that the climate and soil in Arizona’s Verde Valley are very similar to those of the wine making regions of France and Italy. There are a number of fine wineries and vineyards near the city of Cornville, located about 30 minutes from Sedona and 90 minutes from Phoenix. Here are just a few of our favorite spots.

Oak Creek Vineyards – Since 2002, Oak Creek Vineyards has been crafting a wide variety of wines on its 10-acre estate vineyard. Sip wine and snack on locally made artisan cheeses, biscuits, breads and more at the tasting room. Taste five wines for $10 plus tax. Snacks cost extra.

Address:

1555 Page Springs Rd.

Cornville, AZ 86325

Tasting Room Hours:

Open daily 10 am – 6 pm

Javelina Leap Winery – Take a complimentary tour of the winemaking facilities and barrel room at Javelina Leap Winery. This vineyard processes more than 44 tons of grapes each year, which adds up to 2,600 cases of wine. Tastings vary from $2-$3 each, and some are free for Wine Club members. Light bites are also available.

Address:

1565 N. Page Springs Rd.

Cornville, AZ 86325

Tasting Room Hours:

Sun.-Thurs. 11 am – 5 pm

Fri. & Sat. 11 am – 6 pm

Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day

Page Springs Cellars – Since 2004, Page Springs Cellars has worked to create high quality wines and offer one-of-a-kind experiences. Enjoy perfect food pairings at the Bistro, tour the vineyard or winery, or book a luxurious massage or group yoga session and make a day of it. A tour with five tastings costs $34 per person. A Tasting Flight with five wines costs $11.

Address:

1500 N. Page Springs Rd.

Cornville, AZ 86325

Tasting Room Hours:

Sun.-Wed. 11 am – 7 pm

Thurs.-Sat. 11 am – 9 pm

Alcantara Vineyards – Just a stone’s throw from Cornville, Alcantara Vineyards is home to 13,000 vines and produces 12 different varietals of wine. The grounds feature a grass picnic area and a view of the Verde River. Taste five wines for $10 and get a take-home glass to remember your experience. Tours are on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:30 am.

Cottonwood, AZ 86326
