McDonald’s Arches Take a Different Hue in Sedona

When driving by this Sedona McDonald’s, you might do a double take when you see the restaurant’s famous arches. Instead of the typical golden hue, this location sports turquoise arches.

Sedona has strict rules for buildings to ensure that they don’t interfere too much with the beautiful surrounding landscape. When this McDonald’s was constructed in 1993, officials felt the usual gold would clash too much with Sedona’s red rocks.

While thousands of tourists flock to Sedona each year to experience the city’s spiritual vortexes and breathtaking scenery, this McDonald’s has become a tourist attraction all its own. Other than the off-color signage, you’ll find that this McDonald’s offers the same fast-food menu as any other.

You can find the turquoise arches at 2380 W. US AZ-89A, Sedona, AZ 86336.

Definitely a unique oddity for a unique area. This is a great example of compromise.

Now if only municipalities can do something about the epidemic of distracting dynamic flashing signs. They no longer “draw attention” when everybody has one.
